Gertrude Parady
This sculpture was commissioned by James Parady, whom I’d previous done this bronze bust for. Gertrude passed away, and James wanted a bust of her as he remembered her – smiling.
Most sculptors are reluctant to do teeth. They are very hard to get right, and even the best executed toothy smiles can look a little… off.
James was insistent about capturing Gertrude with a full smile, and I think the results capture the joyful woman that she was.
I sculpted this piece strictly from photos such as this one. You can see the process of creating this custom bronze bust – from the original clay sculpture to the bronzing process at the foundry – over on my “process” page.
