Stephanie Hunter is the artist behind many public statues on display around the United States. Her life-size bronze of First Lady Ellen Axson Wilson stands in Mrs. Wilson’s hometown of Rome, Georgia. And Hunter is extremely honored to be completing this statue of Arizona suffragist Frances Munds.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Hunter has worked in ceramics and bronze for two decades and has created dozens of busts, miniatures, and life-sized figures using the lost-wax method of casting bronze.
In additional to sculpting iconic American women and private commissions, Hunter works to memorialize US military veterans. In addition to commissions for the EOD Warrior Foundation, Hunter has completed busts of multiple veterans who, like Hunter’s husband, specialize in the disarming and disposal of explosive ordnance.
